Saxophonist, singer, composer, educator and producer associated with the jazz scene, Rosse has excelled in different areas of the musical and educational environment of Guatemala, as well as in other countries in the region. She was recently named "Artist of the Year" by a recognized artistic association of Guatemala and participated as a guest speaker at the TEDx Guatemala City Women at the end of 2017.
She is currently recording the third Imox Jazz album, a quartet she belongs to since 2007, and with which she has participated in dozens of festivals highlighting as a versatile and virtuoso saxophonist and singer. She perfectly masters the scat technique with which she prints each note with a very precise tuning and a clear, but at the same time intricate phrasing. She has written more than a dozen original compositions in which she combines her influences of jazz, Latin music, samba and flamenco. Her compositions demonstrate her taste for simple and cantabile melodies; at the same time they develop on unconventional harmonic progressions evidencing her wide knowledge in harmony.
Born in Guatemala City, she studied music at the National Conservatory of Music in Guatemala, the School for Music Education Teachers Alfredo Colom (Escuela para Maestros de Educación Musical Alfredo Colom) and the University of the Valley of Guatemala (Universidad del Vallle de Guatemala), where she obtained her degree in music teaching. In addition, she has studied jazz in Costa Rica, Panama and Mexico where she won several awards and scholarships from various institutions such as the Berklee College of Music (Boston MA) and the Superior Institute of Music of Veracruz (Instituto Superior de Música del Estado de Veracruz) CDMX.
With Imox Jazz, she has performed regularly at jazz festivals in Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico, El Salvador and Honduras, as well as in several editions of the International Jazz Festival of Guatemala. She has shared stage and played with jazz figures such as Dave Schoereder, Billy Drewes (NYU), Erick Marienthal, Jason Marsalis, Rufus Reid, Sara Lieb, Andrea Motis, Arild Andersen, LaFrae Sci, Eli Yamin, Camille Thurman, Nicky Denner & Cocomama, Cristelle Durandi, Dulce Resillas and her Morena Project, Sebastian Schunke, Diego Piñera, among others. He has also made recordings with artists and prominent musical groups of the Guatemalan local musicians and bands in different music genres, and has participated in various projects ranging from musical theater to reality TV shows of major television stations in Central America and Mexico as vocal coach and judge.
As an educator, she organized, founded and directed the contemporary music schools ATEMPO (2010) and INNATO (2016), where the diffusion of contemporary music and jazz have been promoted through various study programs and technical careers in contemporary music. She has also developed educational programs in binational institutions such as the Guatemalan American Institute (IGA), the Universeity of the Valley of Guatemala (Universidad del Valle de Guatemala) and has collaborated with several embassies in Guatemala such as the Embassy of the United States of America, Germany, Japan, Israel, among others, developing educational projects including the International JazzFest (2011) with professors of the Berklee College of Music and the Jazz Fest Foundation AC of Veracruz, Mexico; the JazzCamp organized by the Friends of Art Foundation (FUNDADELA in Guatemala) and the Embassy of the United States of America (2016 and 2017); among others. She is a saxophone professor at the National Music Conservatory and at the Superior School of Arts at the University of San Carlos in Guatemala. She is currently developing the project of her Ear Trainnig book and some other Educational thesis for developing the Self-empowerment and Entrepreneurship through the knowledge of Sacred Geometry.
