13 times prizewinner and Artisjus award winner Hungarian clarinetist/saxophonist Bence Szepesi took a degree at Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music (with Béla Kovács and József Balogh), Budapest, and CNSMDP, Paris (with László Hadady). Besides his soloist and chamber activities, he is the founder and artistic leader of Budapest Saxophone Quartet since 1995, Principal clarinetist of the Dohnanyi Symphony Orchestra and Professor of Saxophone at University of Miskolc.
In 1995 he got a scholarship to the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy in Rotterdam and the same year he was the concertmaster of the WASBE International Youth Wind Orchestra in Hamamatsu, Japan.
He has given concerts in more than 25 countries (USA, China, South-Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Russia, Qatar, Israel, Greece, etc.), performed with symphonic/wind orchestras and string quartets, and participated in a world-tour with Ennio Morricone.
Member of jury in Summer Academies in Hungary and abroad (Italy, Slovenia, Serbia). After his Carnegie Hall’s debut in 2015, he taught and performed in several Universities (California State University, Manhattan School of Music, The Juilliard School of Music, Queens College, University of Central Florida, etc.) Bence Szepesi is an artist of „D’addario”, USA and National Chairman for International Clarinet Association.
In 2016 June 2., his latest CD recording “i3” won the 1st prize in USA of the “Best Classical CD Award” category.
Bence Szepesi is the President of the Hungarian Clarinet and Saxophone Society.
