He began his Clarinet studies with maestro Orlando Rodríguez, continuing them at the National University of Colombia with maestro Robert De Gennaro until 1999 when he graduated with a meritorious mention, a distinction that allows him to win the prize for the best graduate works of the Faculty of Arts in his class.

With a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, he did postgraduate studies at Indiana University (United States) with Howard Klug, and later obtained three master’s degrees at the Conservatory of the Italian Switzerland (Switzerland) with François Benda in 2005: Clarinet Perfection, Clarinet Pedagogy and Elementary Musical Education.
At the same time as his studies in Lugano, he specialized in Free Improvisation with Walter Faendrich at the Musikhochschule in Basel (Switzerland).

He has been member of the Symphonic Band of Santa Fe De Bogotá, National Symphonic Band, member of the Chamber Orchestra of the Italian Switzerland and Professor of Clarinet of the Musikschule Romanshorn. He is currently a PhD student in Educational Sciences at RUDECOLOMBIA, he works as Clarinet Professor at the University of Cauca; he is a Yamaha Artist, BG Artist and Cañas Gonzáles Artist.
