Clarinetist graduated with honors from the Fundación Universitaria Bellas Artes where he studied with Master Jose García, is a graduate of the Master in Music from EAFIT University where he studied with Dr. Javier Vinasco. Afterwards, he studied in Paris (France) with Bruno Martinez. He currently resides in Pittsburgh (USA) where he is an Artist Diploma student at Duquesne University with Maestro Ron Samuels. He began his studies in the music school of the Municipality of Urrao, Antioquia and is currently a member of the Iberacademy. He has performed as a soloist with the EAFIT Symphony Orchestra, the University of Antioquia Symphony Band (2007), the Medellín Classical and Modern Orchestra (2010) and with the Colombia Youth Symphony Orchestra (2014).
In 2007 he won the award for Best Instrumentalist of the Contest at the “Encuentro Nacional de Bandas” in La Vega Cundinamarca. In 2012 he won second place in the “II Gabriel Uribe García in memoriam Clarinet National Contest” Category B, within the framework of the Clarisax Medellín 2012 festival. Second place in the International Clarinet Competition Costa Rica 2017 Jose Manuel “Che Che” Ugalde. was selected to participate in the 2015 tour of the Youth Orchestra of Americas (YOA). He served as Assistant Principal Clarinetist in the Philharmonic Orchestra of Medellin between 2015-2016. In his professional career he has performed as multiple guest clarinetist in the Philharmonic Orchestra of Medellin, Johnstown Symphony Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra of EAFIT.
