A distinguished figure in both Latin American music and E-flat clarinet, Montilla Moreno made history as the first Latin American clarinetist to record under the prestigious British label "Clarinetclassics." A product of Venezuela's esteemed "El Sistema," he is acknowledged as one of the standout musicians of the Venezuelan program.

Operating under the moniker "clarinetevzla" on major social media platforms, Jorge is frequently invited to perform live alongside prominent collaborators at universities, music festivals, and concert series worldwide. His extensive career has seen performances as a soloist, in recitals, in compositions, and in educational roles on stages around the globe.

Having commenced his clarinet studies at the age of 10 in Venezuela, Montilla Moreno has dedicated himself to educating younger generations. He has served as the Head of the Clarinet Department at the Simón Bolívar Music Conservatory and as a clarinet professor at the Latin American Academy in Venezuela. In the United States, he has been a professor at Arizona State University and the Longy School of Music at Bard College.

Montilla pursued his studies at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, earning a Master's and Artist Diploma under the guidance of Howard Klug. Among his distinguished teachers are Luis Rossi, Eli Eban, James Campbell, Walter Boeykens, Antony Pay, and Ricardo Morales.

Former principal clarinetist of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra and artistic director of the Caracas Clarinet Quartet, Montilla Moreno is celebrated for his compositions and arrangements, making him a prominent figure in the world of clarinet ensembles.

Currently, Jorge Montilla serves as a clarinet professor at the University of Iowa School of Music. He contributes as a columnist for "The Clarinet" magazine of the International Clarinet Association and maintains an active international career as a soloist and educator.
